Siwan has worked in horticulture for 12 years. She began her journey into botany and horticulture by studying with the Royal Horticultural Society in London. She then moved to Cornwall to further her development by working with the Eden Project, specifically looking at tropical plant production, propagating everything from orchids to papaya trees. She was then offered a place to study at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, where she stayed for 3 years, expanding and deepening her love and knowledge for the natural world.
After a role as Acting Head Gardener in London, she moved to Bristol start her own business and to become involved in community growing projects, where she enthused and inspired people to get their hands dirty, to think about food sovereignty and organic growing, and learn how beneficial beautiful gardens and spaces can be.
After managing the growing side of a social enterprise nursery she became employed as a Skilled Gardener at a private estate in Wiltshire, where she managed the kitchen garden and growing the organic flowers for the cut flower business.
She is currently employed at Bristol Botanic Gardens where she works both under glass and in the wider gardens. She is specifically working on the South African plant collection which she is hugely passionate about.
